Its Halloween Season!

 I can’t believe it’s October already! This year is just going by super fast. Have you decided what you want to be for Halloween yet?

Next week is already time our yearly community fall festival. I will be a volunteer again this year. It’s mostly for the kids but it’s fun to see them in all their costumes and we will be showing them a great time. Lots of games and candy to be had.
My friend Cheryl and I made these cute mini witch’s hats to attach to headbands so we can wear them at the festival.


 My camera phone didn’t do these justice but you can still see how adorable they are.

I also took some time to complete a Halloween mini book I started last year and set aside. I tend to do this a lot so I made it my mission to complete old projects this year. I took Amy Tan’s class “Get Your Creative Juices Flowing” at Big Picture, where she taught how to make mini books like her Daybooks.
Here are a few pics of my Halloween mini book. 



This was a fun and easy book to create and I used up some Halloween paper and embellishments I had in my stash.  Most of the papers were Little Yellow Bicycle. The Fence, spider and Spooky were cut with the Cricut. I can’t remember who made the journaling cards and the embellishments where from Fancy Pants, K&Co, etc.  (Don’t remember who made all of the items.)

Boo! Frame

Today I wanted to share a cute Halloween frame I made. 

This little art piece was based on a project I learned about at the Little Blue House, the float art frames. 
My twist was that I used tiny beads(not micro) instead of buttons an I used a Cricut die cut for the tree and grass.  You can use the die cut just as a guideline for your buttons or beads but I wanted to keep the tree base so I attached the die cut to the glass. Then I adhered the beads on top with Glossy Accents.

Well, I loved making that one so much that I made another on but used bits of paper to fill in the larger frame.

Try these and come up with your own artwork.  Just think of the possibilities for Christmas. Gift giving ideas too!

Happy Halloween!!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween! I wanted to stop in and share a couple of cards I made for Halloween this year.

Even though I don't have children to share in the Halloween fun, I still love to play with the fun images of the holiday. And so, I also made a little treat bag with my Cricut for a friend's daughter. I think it came out pretty cute and it took less than 1/2 hour to cut and put together.

For some reason this year it seemed like a long Halloween season. I don't know why, maybe because I started decorating for fall and creating Halloween projects in mid September. Then I volunteered for our neighborhood's Fall festival earlier this month or maybe it's because I read about so many other bloggers who've been preparing for the holiday also. Nonetheless, I've had fun and am now turning my sights to Christmas.

For November, we are having a fun handmade Christmas ornament contest/challenge at ScrapaholicsQClub. There is still time to join us if you'd like and you only need to make one handmade ornament for this simple challenge.

I'll try to stop in again soon and share some Christmas projects.

New Layouts

Here are a couple of new layouts I created with sketches from Inspired Blueprints. I love sketches because they make it easy to just get creative without having to plan the layout first.

This first page is going to be the title page for my new album of a decade of Christmas memories from 2001 - 2010. Products include: KI Memories, Fancy Pants, Cricut Cart. Christmas Cheer (I'm having fun with my Cricut) and Home Essentials, Brenda Pinnick and misc embellies.




I just had to create a page for these cute pictures of my nephew.

Products used here are: Cosmo Cricut, DCWV, and Core'dinations, 7 Gypsies and misc embellies. The new Core'dinations paper is pretty cool. I tore the paper with a tearing ruler and I like how the orange middle came through.

Trick or Treat

I went to a kid's Halloween Party last Friday and had Greg take this stupid picture of me looking silly. I didn't really wear a costume but I dressed silly and had a little fun with my makeup even though the picture doesn't do it justice.



These are the moments to remember. Everyday stuff. I love how cool Xena looked in the rear view mirror of our truck while we waited for Greg to get out of the video store so I had to snap a few pics.

And, on that note... In the Nov/Dec issue of Simple Scrapbooks was a great idea for a gratitude journal. You can download the journaling cards here www.simplescrapbooksmag.com . Anyway, you take a picture everyday for a month of something your grateful for , then you write about it on the journaling card. Put in a small 4x6 album with the photo on one side and the journaling card on the other and boom instant album and gratitude journal. I'm going to try to do this for November and December.
