Important Announcement & DIY Deco Tape

Hi everyone. Today I wanted to announce that I went ahead and changed this blog’s (URL) address to http://scrapbites.blogspot.com.  Please note the change in your readers (http://ohkianex.blogspot.com is NO longer active).

This change not only better reflects the content of the blog but also reflects the title. When I started this blog, I didn’t plan on focusing so much on my crafting and yet, it took over.  Thanks for sticking with me even though I’m not a regular poster.

Now, on to today’s DIY project. Deco Tape.  I’ve seen some bloggers create their own out of masking tape but mine is made from this stuff called Hinging tape by Lineco.Lineco l5330754 Self Adh Hingng Tape 7/8x150ft I found it at Hobby Lobby on clearance but I believe it’s available online.  Anyway, it’s got a nice fabric-ky texture and is slightly transparent.  And you get 150 ft or 50 yards of the stuff.  It’s also easy to tear and acid-free! So feel free to use in your scrapbooks.

Okay, so on to my finished deco tape.  I colored them with permanent markers (Bics and Sharpies) and stamped them with ink and white paint.

Now, I have a nice assortment of tapes to use and without having to pay $8 a roll for the stuff. And I still have more than half the roll left!I can also make them as needed, but for now I can use and play with these.

So have you tried making your own deco tape? If not, then get started. It’s quite a relaxing project.

Hello New Follwers and More Cards to Share

It's been a blast getting to know everyone from the Getting Cricky linky party.  Everyone has such great blogs and creative talent.
I'm still trying to get to everyone so don't fret if you haven't heard from me yet.  Has anyone visted all the links yet?  Congratulations if you have!
And a warm welcome to all my new followers! Yay! I'm going to have to do something special when I hit 100 followers.

So today, I have a couple more cards to share.  These were made with a K&Co card kit I've had for a while now however,I updated them with the doily and some baker's twine.  I think they are adorable and a couple of my favorites from my card making marathon.

What do you think?  Did I update them enough?

This picture shows some of the 3D details.
Right now I'm working on a Mother's day card with my Cricut.  I wasn't too pleased with my first try. Not to happy with the paper color choices. Once I get it tweaked  I'll post both and see what you think.

Woot! - Another Award and Card-a-palooza

I just received this awesome award from Sandy O at Paper Transformer. Funny thing is she just found me and already thought my blog was worthy of an award.  Wow! That's such a compliment.  Thanks so much Sandy!

So for this award I have to follow these rules:

Thank the person who sent it to you
Tell Us 7 things about yourself
Send/Reward this to 15 bloggers

Okay so here goes, 7 things about me.
  1. I've been scrapping since 1998. However, I have been fascinated by pretty papers, stickers, stamps, coloring and art ever since I was a kid.
  2. I'm very practical.  If it doesn't make sense or is uncomfortable to me, then I won't do it. Such as wearing heels. I'll be an old lady still wearing sneakers.
  3. I'm a total geek wannabe. I love being around very intelligent people. I also love geeky shows like Big Bang Theory and Dr. Who.
  4. I don't have children so it's just me, my DH and my pup Xena. It's not that we can't; it's just another practical decision.
  5. I'm a blog addict.  I think I follow over two hundred blogs via my reader, my favorites, my blog and Flud.  So don't feel bad if you are not listed on my site because I'm still following you somewhere.
  6. When I'm interested in learning something, I want to absorb everything I can about that subject.  Like scrapbooking; I may just be a walking encyclopedia on the subject. Go ahead, ask me anything.
  7. I am awesome at caulking.  Don't know why or how it happened but let me tell you, I can make the neatest, smoothest caulking line with just my finger. LOL!
So now, I want to award some awesome bloggers that I follow so stop by and visit them:
  1. Bug Junkie
  2. Passionately Artistic
  3. Diane's Crafts
  4. Cards TV
  5. So Not Mocha-vated
  6. The Green Cricut
  7. Through Emily's Eyes
  8. Sarahndipities
  9. Eighteen 25
  10. Brenda's Agenda
  11. Scrapping Latina
  12. Lil Luna
  13. Bursts of Creativity
  14. Under a Cherry Tree
  15. But it's a good place to start
Whew! That was a lot of work!

So, now I want to update you as to what I'm working on.  I've been making a bunch of cards for a couple of ladies that wanted to by them by the bunch.  So I'm having my own Card-a-palooza! Yeah!  Here's a sneak peek at the ones I've already done.  I'll share more individual pics in the future so stay tuned.  These were made using the cricut, some scraps, old and new supplies, premade card blanks, etc. Basically, a little bit of everything.  Nothing better for making a dent in your stash.

Until next time!

My First Blog Award & Catch-up

Yay! I was given a blog award by Jackie at Scrapping Latina! Thanks so much Jackie! I was super surprised since I am by no means a big wig in the blogging world. But I think this award will motivate me to post more and share more with other crafty bloggers.

The Liebster Blog award is given to bring new blogs to light. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others.

As a recipient you must share the love and pay it forward by:
1. Creating a post where you blog about the Liebster award & reveal your 3-5 blog picks
2. Let them know you chose them
3. Copy & paste the blog award on your blog
4. Have faith that your followers will rally & show their crafty love back out to those you awarded
5. Have fun!

I had a really hard time finding newer bloggers since most blogs I visit have been around for a while and have a very large following. So I just picked three that I follow and I thought deserved some recognition.

Enjoy your awards bloggy friends!

Now I know Valentine's is over but I wanted to share a pic of the LOVE banner swap we had over at ScrapaholicsQClub. And I wanted to say thanks to all the girls that participated. Everyone did a lovely job.

Next, I wanted to share a couple of layouts I completed that were started at a Little Blue House Page Builder's session. These were done using a Brenda Pinnick kit I got from QVC a few years ago. With some embellies from other suppliers such as Fancy Pants felt and Making Memories journaling spot and brads and rhinestones.
Sorry, these pics aren't the best. I just took them from my work table.
So that's all I have for now. Thanks again to Scrapping Latina for the sweet recognition.

Wow! Happy St. Patty's Day

Well, I tried to offer a freebie but I guess no one is interested. So sad :(

So, my blog is not very popular but I know there are some readers out there. I thought this blogging thing would introduce me to some cool and interesting people but it seems no one wants to reach out to me. So, is the work involved in maintaining a blog worth it? Maybe I'll have to post some naked pics so I can get some attention -- at least I know that will become a fascinating and hilarious viral email.

Here are some great reasons to check out my blog: My blog doesn't have advertising. I'm doing this for fun, not to pawn anything on you or push affiliate websites so I can make some cash on your clicks. I'm not promoting anything I created or selling.
And I when I visit blogs I comment and create links to it so someone else can find it. The same courtesy would be appreciated.

Anyway, just send me a shout out and let me know if you are out there and are still interested in checking out my projects, ideas and thoughts. I just want to meet people from around the world and share ideas.

So, if anyone is interested in the RAK just let me know. The first person to ask, shall receive.

Still here...

Well, inauguration day is upon us and no doubt most of us (that didn't go to D.C.) will be glued to the tv screen all day today. This is definitely an historic event that I never imagined I would see during my lifetime. Mr. President Obama, please live up to your promises and do us proud. I also wanted to share a few pics for my Scrapbooking Project 365. Yes I have been taking pictures regularly and I just ordered a bunch from Artscow.com so I will be putting my pages together soon.
Lunch with Michelle and Adriana.

Giving Xena her weekly bath.

At Smoqued with Emily.

And homemade guacamole, yum!

Here's also a couple of pages I created with Inspired Blueprints sketches 6 & 7. The pictures didn't come out so clear but you get the idea.

Also, some bad news for fellow scrapbookers. Simple Scrapbooks Magazine will no longer publish after their May/June issue. Visit their blog to view the announcement. I am so upset about this cause I am mostly a simple scrapper and I really enjoyed the projects in their magazine. It's so sad to see good businesses die because of the state of our economy.
I have not been able to visit blogs regularly these last couple of weeks, but rest assured I will be visiting you all again soon. I'm a blog addict so leave me your blog info and I will stop by and visit soon.

Well, that's all I have for today. I've been cleaning out some of my scrapbooking stash and I will post a giveaway soon, so stay tuned.

Crafty Creations

Well, I finally finished my holiday wall hanging. One side is all about Christmas and the other side is winter. This way I can turn it around after Christmas is over and have something up during January. As you can see I played with my Cricut on the winter side. These are some of my first cuts. I embellished the cuts with puff paint, Magic Scraps Ice (remember that? I still have a bunch of it), glitter and embossing.

I used the Christmas Cheer cartridge, Brenda Pinnick paper and embellishments, Making Memories embellishments and Colorbok embellishments and other misc supplies.

I also altered this composition notebook for my sister. I used My Mind's Eye paper, 7 Gypsies gaffer tape, 3 Birds embellisments, vellum quote from DCWV and Imaginisce flowers (brad is unknown and so is paper under quote). Since I've been unemployed it's been fun rummaging through my supply stash and actually using it. I've been mixing the old with the new to make it all more contemporary.

Since I've been unemployed it's been fun rummaging through my supply stash and actually using it. I've been mixing the old with the new to make it a little more contemporary and not outdated. Let me know if I'm accomplishing that. Anyway, stay tuned because I may be having my first giveaway soon. I just have to figure out what it will be. Also, I've discovered a couple of cool blogs you should visit if you get a chance http://everythingcricut.blogspot.com/ and http://inspiredbyamelie.blogspot.com/ ( I love everything Amelie). And Angie, I'm sorry I missed your giveaway, I love your blog too! Thanks for commenting!
